After successfully competing in the National Finals of the Land Rover in Schools 4×4 challenge the six schoolboys, who call themselves ‘The Mancunian Way’ will now go head to head with the best and brightest young engineers in the world at prestigious event.
All six members of ‘The Mancunian Way’ specifically designed the vehicle to successfully complete a specially designed track and perform to the same standards as a full-scale 4×4 in an off-road situation.

Speaking after the event, pupil Luke Kwan, team leader of The Mancunian Way, said: “The whole team cannot find the words to express how proud we are to get this far of the Land Rover in Schools 4×4 challenge. The National Finals were tough. The event brought together 25 of the best budding engineers in the country that were all vying for a place at the World Finals an we’re ecstatic that we managed to get ourselves over the finish line by winning best engineered vehicle and achieving a 2nd overall finishing place! The whole team is hugely thankful for the financial support from Cartwright which was invaluable in sourcing the components we needed to get us over the finish line. We also want to offer our thanks to Mark Cartwright for his kind words of support throughout the competition.”
Held at the renowned British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire, the 2-day event consisted of 5 criteria of judging: Track Performance, Scrutineering, Pit Display, Verbal Presentation and Engineering Judging.

We were delighted to help the talented ‘Mancunian Way’ and everyone at the Group wish them the best of luck on the world stage.”
