Leading electrical and telecommunications retailer and services business Dixons Carphone PLC has added a versatile range of trailers to their fleet for multi-purpose use across their operation, ordering 40 box vans and 30 curtainsiders from Cartwright Group
The box van trailers will be operated by Dixons Carphone’s third-party logistics provider DHL, through the nationwide network of Dixons Carphone distribution centres and branches, which includes 350 Currys/PC World stores and 750 Carphone Warehouse locations, as well as the ‘Knowhow’ services arm of the company. These will be used to distribute the organisation’s ‘big box’ products such as washing machines, fridges, TV’s and cookers.
The curtainsiders are multi-purpose trailers for use across the whole of the business including delivering to branches and trunking into customer service centres.
Both models were built to a fully tailored specification , following consultation between Cartwright and Dixons, and feature the popular addition of retractable tailift’s. Dixons Carphone were enthusiastic about returning to Cartwright to place the order, following the success of previous orders. Robert Redmile, Head of Customer Planning explains: “The price was competitive, and we felt that Cartwright has made major steps forward in the last few years. It is making real progress as a high quality, customer focused business.
“Cartwright has built the curtainsiders to our demanding specification. The whole purpose of the curtainsiders with tailift is to try to build some flexibility into our trailer fleet.
“We wanted trailers to serve both parts of the business.”
He added: “We are very happy with the whole process.”
